Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy is an extensively researched, effective psychotherapy method.  It is proven to help people recover from trauma and other distressing life experiences, including PTSD, anxiety, depression and panic disorders, especially where a difficult life event has been involved.

  • EMDR can be useful for people who have witnessed or experienced an event like a car accident, a violent crime, sexual or emotional abuse, bullying, a social humiliation or the sudden loss of a loved one, and are struggling to recover.  This can be a transformative therapy for clients experiencing the ongoing effects of trauma.

  • It is widely used by the NHS, charitable organisations and in the private sector. The Ministry of Defence use EMDR to help service personnel with PTSD.

  • Session times can be longer - up to 90 minutes when processing memories.

  • EMDR is suitable for adults, young people and children and the videos below can give you a broader understanding of what is involved.
